Version 1.9 released

Version 1.9 brings improved integration with other apps and the Android media library.

  • Implemented ACTION_EDIT for supported input formats and mime types. This means that now the app can be chosen as a video editor from apps that choose to fire this intent.
  • Improved support for FLV input files, particularly to support editing videos generated by my recently updated music-making app Color Sounds.

Version 1.7 released

Version 1.7 of Video Toolbox has been released for both the trial and full versions. This update adds two new tools:

  • Bit rate: Modifies the video and audio bit rate to get the balance of quality and file size that you want. With all of the different formats and types of files it’s hard to get this working perfectly, so for now it’s considered to be in beta.
  • No audio: Removes the audio track. By contrast this tool is very simple. In the future I plan to extend it to allow replacing the audio track with other music.

Version 1.5 released

Version 1.5 of Video Toolbox was recently released. This update contains fixes for certain MP4 files and some notable changes:

Trial version

  • The 1 minute limit in the trial version has been lifted.
  • Videos made with the trial version now contain a watermark.

All versions

  • The preview feature now uses an image preview that shows a frame of what the render will look like. It’s much faster than a video preview.
  • You can still use the old style video previews by changing the “preview type” in Settings.

Version 1.4 released (full)

The update to version 1.4 has been released for the full version. At the beginning of the week this fairly major update was limited to the free trial version. Since then the trial version users have tested the update, I’ve closely monitored the error reports, and a few small bugs have been fixed. It’s now satisfactorily stable, although there still could be some problems missed, particularly with certain videos or on certain devices.

As always if you find any problems or if you have any feedback please email me.

Version 1.4 released (trial)

Version 1.4 of Video Toolbox was recently released, but initially only as an update to the free trial version. This update is major and should fix a few issues as well as making it easier to diagnose other issues. It’s possible this update will introduce some small new issues with certain videos and on certain devices, so for a few days I’ll be closely monitoring the error reports that come in and then I’ll release an update to the full version.

As always please email me with any problems or feedback.

Version 1.2 released

Version 1.2 of Video Toolbox was recently released. The most notable addition in this version is support for using AVI files as input (AVI was already available as output). Most AVI files should now work, although due to the incredible variety of AVI files (they can contain nearly anything) a small portion of AVI files will be unreadable, mostly due to unsupported video or audio codecs.

As always please email me with any problems or requests for additional formats or features.
