This add-on allows you to schedule turning on and off WiFi, Sync, Bluetooth, airplane mode, and 3G (on most handsets). You can integrate these behaviors with whatever else you want to schedule (ex. turn on Wi-Fi when my morning alarm goes off) using TaskBomb’s scheduling system.

How to use

This add-on is basically a little app, but you don’t run the app itself. Once you install this add-on, it will appear as a choice in the “Data” field of a task definition. You use the “Toggleable items” menu to choose which item to set, then use the task’s “Activity” to select whether turn the item on, off, or toggle it.

Frequently asked

Will you ever add GPS toggling?

Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be possible for third party apps to automatically toggle GPS since it’s regarded as a privacy threat. From what I understand there was an exploit that some apps were using to get around this, but since Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) they patched up this hole.

One thing I did discover though is that leaving GPS on doesn’t necessarily hurt battery life much. If there’s no app currently using GPS to get a location it’s supposedly not really on (just enabled), as opposed to WiFi or 3G which is always active.
